I have a friend who every eighteen months, cuts her hair and donates it to the Locks of Love. It starts just below her chin and she grows it until it reaches ten inches long. She is a great example to me of service and charity. Locks of Love is a non-profit charity based organization that accepts donations of human hair and money to make wigs for needy children who have lost their due to medical conditions.
Locks of love accepts hair from people of all ages, races and nationalities. The donation must be at least ten inches long and they specify that curly hair can be pulled straight to meet the requirement. They also specify that hair cannot be bleached or chemically damaged, but dyed hair is acceptable. They do no accept dreadlocks and the donation must be in a pony tail or braid. They also accept cash donations which can be a tax deduction.
I think Locks of Love is a wonderful organization that helps those little children feel good about at least one aspect of their life. Hair is such an important factor to ones identity and style and children with medical conditions and those important growing years of these children are so important for them to find who they are!
